The other day, I was in Walmart and they had a ton of their hangar boxes on clearance. I grabbed the only 2 that had a relic in them. Warning: angry rant is coming up in next paragraph.
The hits sucked, but I knew that going on. I am going to start with saying something nice before getting ‘angry.’ The jersey cards will hold up. They were made to last and not ding easily. Now onto the rant. I am so annoyed at myself for buying these. Was I expecting a jumbo relic like it advertised? I have bought this box before at full price and knew the swatch was anything but jumbo. I am annoyed that I let myself get so excited by the fact that I got a relic from a retail box for $6, that I let it cloud my judgement. I would be annoyed at myself even if I got cards for my personal collection. The reality is that if I magically got a Panthers card jersey in one of these boxes, I would still be annoyed because I could have got it for pennies elsewhere. There was no chase in these boxes. I knew the rookies from this year sucked as I just opened a hobby box from that year recently. I knew that I was getting junk and yet I was so excited that a retail product was cheap that I didn’t think it through. This product could easily be about how it was cool that I hit 2 numbered cards plus the jersey cards. Who cares? If these cards weren’t behind packs, you would be lucky to get a third of what I payed for the 2 boxes. I needed this wake up call because this is why I started this site in the first place. I have to pinch pennies and while $12 may not seem like a lot to you, that is at least 3 to 4 meals for my budget.
